So you’ve just signed up for an excellent online affiliate program with lots of perks: great products, free referral sites, training, pre-made ads you can copy and the best compensation plan on the internet. Well, before taking the next big step to becoming an internet millionaire, you better read about the most common mistakes that new affiliate marketers commit:
1. Believing the hype
This includes the hype promoted by your own program. Income projections are just what it says – projections. It means it’s possible to earn that much in the given time frame, but how likely is that to happen?: Realistically, not very much. Regard this venture as a long term investment. Believe in yourself and your abilities but no – don’t believe the hype.
2. Expecting instant results with little effort
Success requires more than token effort. And you’re expected to work at it every day. You’d have to advertise and get people to come visit your site. They’d never see the products otherwise would they, and there won’t be any sales. No sales – no profit.
3. Lack of a plan and specific goals
For your affiliate marketing program to work, a specific plan and clear, measurable goals are required. Wanting to make a lot of money is simply too general. Be practical with your goals. Making a million dollars a month sounds a bit too incredible doesn’t it? Once you’ve set your goals, think about the simple and specific steps you’re going to make.
4. Advertising your affiliate link
Don’t be a cheapskate. Develop your own website that has a link to your affiliate program. All the affiliates for your program gets the same website so get your own and make yourself different. It pays to be distinctive in this business.
5. Quitting
No one ever achieved success by being a quitter. Don’t be one of those losers. If you think you’ve been working too long – a few months probably – then figure out what else needs to get done. This is the time to learn more so ask for help from your sponsor. That’s what they’re there for.
