Affiliate Assets

Just like any other business, enough effort must be focused on the growth of your affiliate marketing company. Keep in mind that you own a marketing company, your business are your affiliate links and there is potential for expansion into several more businesses and assets. The strategies listed below can help you develop your marketing business:

1.    Get your own website and domain name.

Avoid looking cheap by NOT posting a long affiliate link in your ads. This also marks you as a “newbie” and you don’t want that. With current prices, acquiring your own domain name these days won’t drain you financially. Establish more of a web presence by either setting yourself up with some fee hosting or by simply forwarding your URL to your affiliate link. The best method would be to write a flattering description of your affiliate program and link to your program via an HTML link that is part of your description.

2. Build your own list.

Forget those one-shot ads. Commit yourself to the establishment of relationships with customers and visitors to your site. Real businesses have repeat customers that they carefully cultivate over time. To keep in touch with these people, create an email list and send out occasional tips or articles that would help them. Don’t make your emails one big advertisement. Think of ways to promote your affiliate links in a subtle manner.

To develop traffic to your list, an excellent method is to write a short report describing the benefits of your affiliate program. This report should be available only by email. You can constantly communicate with people as they are added to your list when they ask for your report.

3. Build traffic to your own site and list.

When you have your own website, you are building your own business and brand while developing your list. This gives you the ability to market to your own customers continually. There’s one very important point to remember: every customer directed by your ad to your affiliate link is considered a “lost” customer. They become your affiliate’s customer and you just lost the capacity for constant communication with them. The customers directed to your own site and list are those that build a relationship with you.

There are a number of ways to build traffic. It is advisable to decide on one method:  take your pick from forum posting, article writing, offline advertising, etc – then practice and master the process before moving on to another.
